In the heart of Mertensgasse, the local 'Em Poetzke' was buzzing with excitement on Sunday, 1st of February. The venue was filled to capacity, as carnival enthusiasts gathered for a special eventbrite event.

The day's programme commenced with a warm greeting from the Mayor, Josef Hinkel. The children's Prince couple of the Närrischen Schmetterlinge graced the occasion with their presence, adding a touch of royal charm.

Among the distinguished guests was Anne Laumen, who attended the event accompanied by her husband, Michael. The day was particularly significant for Michael, as he was appointed the new honorary senator of the GKG Uzbroeder. The identity of the previous honorary senator, who had appeared at the New Year's celebration and the carnival on the 5th of January, was not disclosed.

CC-Vice Stefan Kleinehr took the stage to deliver a heartfelt laudation for Michael Laumen. The musical ambience of the event was enriched by the performances of Heinz Huelshoff, Max Weyers, and the Schlossturm guard, as well as the Aehren board and the KG Regenbogen members.

The Prince and Princess arrived with their entourage, much to the delight of the crowd. They were joined by a host of other esteemed guests, including the Schmetterlinge's trinity, the Langenfeld Prince and Princess, the Sellerieprinzen club of the market women with Sellerieprinz David, the Benrather Schlossgrafen couple, the Kaiserswerther Burggrafen couple, the 11 Pille Prince couple from Angermund, and the Reizholzer Quatschkopp.

The day's festivities reached a peak when Prince Andreas I. and Venetia Evelyn took to the stage for a captivating session song. The event was presided over by President André Strzoda, who warmly welcomed all the guests.

The celebration in Mertensgasse was a testament to the spirit of community and camaraderie, bringing together people of all ages and backgrounds to celebrate the joy of carnival cruise.
