New Year festivities in Ingolstadt kick off with a lively duck dinner, accompanied by a campaign broadcast featuring obstetrician candidate Stefan König.

Ingolstadt, Germany - The FREIE WÄHLER party's mayoral candidate, Stefan König, made a compelling debut in the city's election campaign on January 15, 2025, at the Antoniusschwaige. The event, which included a traditional duck dinner, marked the beginning of a trailblazing election campaign for the party.

König, a promising contender, presented excerpts from his election program, emphasising his commitment to local and transparent governance, support for small businesses and the local economy, sustainable urban development, affordable housing, improved infrastructure and public services, and the conservation of local culture and environment.

During his welcoming speech, König criticised the long-standing dominance of the CSU in Ingolstadt and the lack of leadership during the recent legislative period. He outlined clear priorities for investment in education, economic promotion, science, medium-sized businesses, and crafts. Creating housing, expanding daycare centres and nursing homes, and securing healthcare were central tasks for König.

A stable and balanced budget was a priority for König, who also made a clear commitment to his political future, stating, "I have come to stay." Hans Stachel, chairman of the FW city council fraction, expressed optimism about the support from various parts of the Ingolstadt population.

Martina Edl, the 3rd mayor of Eichstätt and Bundestag candidate, also spoke at the event, outlining her focus. Edl emphasised the importance of strong municipal representation in the Bundestag for bringing about fundamental changes.
