New Wind Philharmonic to Perform Iconic Film Scores in 2026
A new wind philharmonic will bring iconic film music to life in spring 2026. The ensemble, formed by the Zirndorf Town Band and Nuremberg's Symphonic Wind Orchestra, will perform two major concerts. Under the title Cinema for the Ears, audiences can expect well-known soundtracks by John Williams, Hans Zimmer, and Charlie Chaplin. The first concert takes place on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 7 p.m. in Oberasbach's Jahnhalle. Tickets cost €15 for adults and €10 for students. The programme features John Williams' Hook suite, Chaplin's classic melodies, and Hans Zimmer's most celebrated works.
The second performance follows on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at 5 p.m. in Nuremberg's Meistersingerhalle. Tickets are available through Eventim or at the door on the night. Both shows will be led by conductor Steffen Schubert, with Irina Roosz directing the choir. The ensemble includes 100 wind musicians, a full rhythm section, and the 16-voice Unisono Youth Choir. The choir will perform *I Will Follow Him* from *Sister Act* and *Don't Cry for Me Argentina*, with Alexandra Green as soloist.
The collaboration marks the first time these two orchestras have joined forces. Their performances will showcase live renditions of beloved film scores. Audiences in Oberasbach and Nuremberg can look forward to an evening of cinematic music brought to the stage.
