Starting off this new week, The German Weather Service (DWD) has issued a warning for icy roads, primarily in Hesse. Precipitation is expected to move in from the west, resulting in up to 5cm of fresh snow at lower altitudes and 5-10cm in the low mountain ranges. Gale-force winds may also hit the mountains. As the day progresses, expect a shift from snowfall to rain at lower altitudes. Be cautious as some areas might face black ice due to freezing rain in the evening.
Hesse's mountainous regions should particularly be careful, with an increased risk of slipperiness due to snow and ice. Residents in Offenbach may even encounter gusty winds. With strong winds expected in mountain country, heightened hazards should be anticipated.
Temperatures will fluctuate between 0°C and -3°C during the day, while only the Rhine and Main rivers will see slightly positive temperatures.
