New Volleyball Court Unveiled in Heidesheim
In a sunny summer day on the 2nd of July, the city of Ingelheim officially opened its new beach volleyball court in Heidesheim. The project, which started before the merger with Ingelheim, was a collaborative effort aimed at engaging young people and the community.
The idea for the court emerged through a digital participation process, allowing the youth to express their wishes for the facility. The project prioritized the involvement of young people, ensuring that their interests and needs were at the forefront of the initiative.
The planning stage involved initiating the project, conducting a feasibility study, forming a committee, securing funding, and recruiting volunteers. The organizational steps were followed by the design and planning of the court, the construction process, and community engagement.
The construction of the court was completed at the end of May, and it was opened to the public without reservation. The court, located at Binger Straße 71, was inaugurated with a small ceremony attended by many guests, including teenagers, representatives from administration, and sports.
Mayor Eveline Breyer, Deputy Mayor Dr. Christiane Döll, and local representative Dr. Silvia Klengel handed over the court to the public. In her speech, Mayor Breyer emphasized the value of the youth-centric approach in the project, highlighting the importance of providing opportunities for young people to engage in sports and recreational activities.
The beach volleyball court, which cost approximately 85,000 euros, is open year-round for the public to enjoy. With approximately 155 cubic meters of sand used for the playing field, the court promises to offer a fun and challenging experience for volleyball enthusiasts of all ages.
This new addition to Heidesheim's recreational facilities is a testament to the city's commitment to fostering a vibrant and active community.
