Lucky Iris's New Single Kicks Off Upcoming Mixtape

Leeds-based electropop duo Lucky Iris has released a new single, "i just want to dance", marking the first track from their upcoming mixtape. The release date for the full mixtape has not been specified, but the single dropped on July 23, 2025 [1][3].

The new mixtape follows their earlier 2025 EP titled "day to night" and is expected to feature a more commercial but still distinctly Lucky Iris sound, leaning into clubby, dance-forward elements [1][3]. "i just want to dance" is described as a euphoric, club-ready track expressing themes of freedom and nightlife enthusiasm [3].

Maeve Florsheim, the vocalist of Lucky Iris, commented on the more clubby elements of the single, stating that she was always drawn to dancing as a symbol of freedom. "Dancing has always been a way for me to express myself without words," she said [3].

Lucky Iris formed during lockdown and started performing live in 2021. Their debut EP, "Turns Out We Should Have Stayed At Home", was released in 2020. In 2023, their EP "maybe i'm too much" started to gain attention, showcasing their potential [1].

The duo, consisting of Maeve Florsheim (vocals and lyrics) and Jasper Exley (music and production), has also released the EPs "something to believe in" (2024) and "Neon Crush" (2025). They have a rework of the song "10,000 Hours" from 2024, and another release titled "give me something to believe in" [1].

The single "i just want to dance" was mixed by Richard Wilkinson, who has worked with artists like Adele and Kaiser Chiefs [3]. The upcoming mixtape's title has not been disclosed yet.
