Title: Johanna Bundsen Joins SG BBM Bietigheim as Top Goalkeeper for 2021-2022 Season
Joining forces with the German champions, Johanna Bundsen, a standout Swedish handball goalkeeper, has agreed to a two-year contract with SG BBM Bietigheim. The announcement was made on a Friday, officially marking the beginning of Bundsen's tenure with the league-winning club.
Bundesen, 32, departs from IK Sävehof with a wealth of experience in European handball, having represented Sweden extensively on a national level.
"Johanna has proven herself to be one of the best goalkeepers in Europe for years," said head coach Jakob Vestergaard. "She is not just a sporting asset for our team, but a human enrichment for the entire league."
Bietigheim, with TerraSport Arena as its home base, will be on the hunt for points, facing off against HB Ludwigsburg starting the summer. In preparation for this, the club chose to bid farewell to their Brazilian goalkeeper, Gabriela Moreschi, who will leave at the end of the current season.
The Perfect Swede to Fuel Handball Success
Bundsen's journey to the top of European handball began in Visby, Sweden, where she honed her skills on the court. Her exceptional performances caught the eye of numerous international teams, eventually leading to the opportunity to represent her country.
In 2023, Bundsen helped Borussia Dortmund (BVB) women's handball team clinch the Bronze Medal in the EHF European League (European Handball Federation) [1]. With Bundsen guarding the net, the BVB squad showcased its formidable prowess.
