New Thomas & Friends Exhibit Brings Sodor to Life in St. Louis

A new interactive exhibit based on Thomas & Friends is coming to The Magic House in St. Louis. Thomas & Friends: Explore the Rails! opens on January 17, 2023, and invites young visitors to step into the world of Sodor. The exhibit blends play with learning, offering hands-on activities for preschool and early elementary children.

The exhibit recreates key locations from the Island of Sodor, including Knapford Station. Children can climb into Thomas’ cab to trigger real train sounds or take on the role of conductors by selling tickets. A special repair station lets them fix Percy’s wobbly wheel, encouraging problem-solving through play.

Active challenges are central to the experience. Kids can climb, lift, and move objects while picking up early STEM skills. A dedicated zone for younger visitors ensures age-appropriate activities for all. A nostalgic section showcases the history of Thomas & Friends. Original drawings, model engines, and memorabilia from Rev. W. Awdry’s stories give parents and grandparents a glimpse into the series’ roots. The exhibit runs until September 7, 2023.

The exhibit aims to engage young learners with a mix of imaginative play and educational challenges. By combining physical activity with storytelling, it offers a dynamic way for children to explore the world of trains. Thomas & Friends: Explore the Rails! remains open to visitors through early September.
