New Thermal Garden Construction in Oradea, Western Romania: A RON 214 Million Undertaking Backed by EU Funding
Relax, Soak, and Unwind: Oradea's New Thermal Garden is Coming Your Way!
Get ready to unwind, Oradeans! The city's much-anticipated modern thermal garden is about to transform your relaxation game. This exciting project, funded by the European Union, reinvigorates an old public swimming complex, boasting a grand total value of over 214 million Romanian Lei (RON).
On the fourth of April this year, Oradea City Hall signed the contract that set the wheels in motion for this amazing transformation. A press release outlined the details of the project, which aims to turn part of the 1980s-built Ioșia Pool into a haven for relaxation and health tourism.
The upcoming thermal garden will be nothing short of spectacular, with a SPA center sprawling across 8,800 square meters, complete with indoor and outdoor pools, a fitness hall, public dining areas, lush green spaces, and landscaped beaches. To top it off, the garden will feature no less than five outdoor pool complexes, a swim-up bar, a pontoon on the Crișul Repede River, and numerous relaxation platforms.
As of now, the technical project has been finalized, and the procurement process for the execution phase is gearing up for launch. The design will focus on integrating the thermal garden seamlessly into the existing landscape, using plants adapted for the specific microclimates found in thermal areas.
The new thermal garden will occupy about two-thirds of the original Ioșia Pool complex's area, leaving the remaining one-third dedicated to senior citizens in keeping with the site's original purpose. The project will also include a parking lot with 147 spaces, six of which are wheelchair accessible, eight offering electric charging spots, and additional spaces for bicycles.
Stay tuned for more updates on this fantastic project! If all goes as planned, the procurement process for construction contractors will kick off in 2025, and the completion date will be announced soon.
