New term underway for Homburg's youth council - Deputy Scheidweiler lauds dedication
The Homburg Youth Council has commenced its second term, marking a significant expansion in its membership. The council, which is a fixed part of the city administration, is set to elect a chairperson, vice-chairperson, and two additional members this month.
The inaugural meeting of the expanded Youth Council was held recently, presided over by Deputy Mayor Philipp Scheidweiler. The gathering saw the introduction of 19 new members, each eager to contribute their voices to municipal politics.
Mayor Michael Forster established the Youth Council during his tenure, and it has since grown into a vibrant and influential body. The current council consists of these new members, as well as the council's existing members who were present at the meeting.
The new members include Akua Addai, Erza Bala, Nils Bernhard, Anton Brixius, Jessica Chu, Mathilda Hackländer, Julia Klatt, Sofia Knerr, Jakob Kruthoff, Muzaffer Kürtün, Fatima Lubrich, Colleen Emilia Metz, Vinusha Paramakuru, Aileen Scheid, Anastasia Schön, Angela Steinmüller, Vivienne Stickel, Alexander Veith, and Ellen Ziehl.
Deputy Mayor Scheidweiler welcomed the new members, praising their interest in municipal politics as a demonstration of high commitment. He encouraged them to use their strong youth voice and advocate for their interests, which he emphasised often differ from those of adults.
The meeting was also attended by Nathalie Kroj, honorary deputy mayor for youth affairs, Thomas Höchst, commissioner for schools and inclusion, Sandra Schatzmann, and Tanja Trenkler from the youth department. The city administration representatives were urged to listen to the voices of the Youth Council members and to support their initiatives.
The Homburg Youth Council will represent its members to Mayor Michael Forster and other bodies, ensuring that the youth perspective is heard and considered in city governance. The council will continue to play a crucial role in shaping the future of Homburg, with its expanded membership bringing fresh ideas and energy to the table.
