🔥 Unveiling the Future of Sustainable Shrimp Farming 🍤

Prepare to dive into some exciting news! A groundbreaking indoor shrimp farm is set to revolutionize the Hanover region located between Hanover and Wunstorf in Lower Saxony, Germany. This venture, brought to you by K+S and start-up Aquapurna, will be the pièce de résistance of shrimp farms across Europe. If tales of eco-friendly farm operations, top-notch technology, and sustainable practices get your stomach rumbling, buckle up!

💸 K+S and Aquapurna Team Up 💸

K+S, an iconic name in the German industry scene, has agreed to invest a tidy sum of millions in the low double-digits. This money will be showered onto the new project nestled in the Sigmundshall site near Wunstorf, formerly a potash mine. Aquapurna, the other half of this stellar partnership, will receive further financial backing in the seven-figure range from private investors.

This partnership marks a milestone in the shrimp farming world as Aquapurna aims to construct the largest and most technologically advanced indoor shrimp farm in Europe residing on German soil.

🌍 Guarding Mother Nature's Bounty 🌏

Indoor shrimp farming in Europe frequently faces resistance due to the costly nature of alternative solutions. However, Aquapurna aspires to surpass these challenges by focusing on environmentally friendly technologies. With ever-growing concern over environmental misdeeds such as mangrove forest destruction and bycatch associated with imported shrimp, the time is ripe for this new venture to shine.

🔧 Phases of Construction 🔧

The newest addition to the shrimp farming family in Lower Saxony will develop across three construction phases, each with its unique objectives. By 2025, the farm expects to stand tall with two production halls and cutting-edge infrastructure to support its operations.

First Construction Phase (2024-Mid 2025) 🏗️

Phase one will see the emergence of a production hall, along with a supply and infrastructure wing. Water circulation systems are destined to be integrated for a clean and eco-friendly farming process. This efficient use of resources ensures that minimal waste is produced.

💚 The Power of Recirculation 💚

The shrimp farm in Hanover will utilize a state-of-the-art recirculation system. This innovative technique sets itself apart by using more than 98% of the rearing water in the process, reducing waste water production significantly.

🌱 Sustainable Growth 🌱

The indoor farm is forecast to achieve a staggering annual capacity of up to 800 tons of fresh shrimp! This means less imported shrimp and a decrease in associated environmental damaging practices.

🌍 Worksite Employment Opportunities 🌎

Around 50 new job opportunities will open up for local folks in Hanover to join this endeavor. The pre-existing research facility for shrimp rearing, in operation since 2021, will continue its operations alongside this new facility.
