New Rolex Land-Dweller Debuts at Watches and Wonders 2025

Rolex has unveiled a new addition to its collection at the annual event Watches and Wonders 2025 - the Oyster Perpetual Land-Dweller. This innovative sports watch showcases bold new aesthetics and advanced technology, with 32 patent applications associated, including 18 exclusive ones, primarily related to the movement and case/bracelet design.

The Land-Dweller features an integrated case and bracelet design, with a reinterpretation of intricate designs through an entirely new "Flat Jubilee" bracelet. This bracelet seamlessly flows from and into the angular, somewhat retro-inspired case, reminiscent of vintage 1970s Oyster quartz models but more refined and fluid.

The Flat Jubilee bracelet uses broader outer links and narrower, raised inner links with a polished and vertically brushed finish, tapering down to a crown clasp reminiscent of older Datejust and current Day-Date models. The attachment employs a sophisticated 10-component system including ceramic tubes for spring bar durability.

Powering the Land-Dweller is the all-new automatic caliber 7135, a radical departure for Rolex. It features a high-frequency oscillator beating at 36,000 vibrations per hour (vph), allowing timing to one-tenth of a second precision. This is enabled by the "Dynapulse escapement," a silicon-based snowflake-like assembly that regulates power delivery efficiently and atypically for Rolex.

Unlike most Rolex sports watches, the Land-Dweller features a sapphire exhibition caseback, showcasing the innovative movement, signaling a subtle shift in Rolex’s tradition of opacity for sport models.

The Land-Dweller's index hour markers are luminescent and the hands are rectilinear. It comes in three versions: one 36mm model and two 40mm models.

Rolex has also announced five new models and sophisticated revisions of three existing models at Watches and Wonders 2025. Three of its iconic models - the Cosmograph Daytona, GMT-Master II, and Sky-Dweller - are presented with new dial configurations, featuring sophisticated ceramic components and scratch-resistant bezels.

The Land-Dweller boasts a new movement, calibre 7135, which beats at a frequency of 5 Hz and allows the watch to measure time to one-tenth of a second. Each watch features an Oyster case made from solid blocks of 18ct gold that is waterproof to 100m and is powered by self-winding mechanical movements with power reserves ranging from 70 to 72 hours.

The Oyster Perpetual Land-Dweller features a 'Flat Jubilee' metal bracelet with a technical satin finish. The Oyster Perpetual 36 and 41 are driven by calibre 3230, providing similar features and a power reserve of approximately 70 hours.

The Cosmograph Daytona has a black Cerachrom bezel, the GMT-Master II boasts a two-tone brown and black Cerachrom insert, and the Sky-Dweller's fluted bezel is made from 18ct yellow gold. In terms of bracelet options, it's Oysterflex for the Daytona, Oyster for the GMT-Master II, and Jubilee for the Sky-Dweller.

A new watch from Rolex, the Oyster Perpetual 1908, has been introduced. It is waterproof to 50m and is powered by the calibre 7140, a self-winding, high-precision, and resistant mechanical movement that offers hours, minutes, and small seconds functions, with a power reserve of around 66 hours.

The Perpetual 1908 watch is part of the 2023 Perpetual collection and features a bold white dial, Breguet-style hour hands, a minute hand shaped like a two-edged sword, Arabic numerals at the three, nine, and 12 o'clock positions, and a transparent back.

Rolex has also unveiled a new iteration of the Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master II, featuring a dial crafted from high-tech ceramic in vivid green Cerachrom.

The Cosmograph Daytona now boasts a turquoise blue lacquer dial with black counters, the GMT-Master II is presented with a distinctive tiger iron dial, and the Sky-Dweller in 18 ct yellow gold features a green sunray-finish dial.

Lastly, the Oyster Perpetual 28 is powered by calibre 2232, offering hours, minutes, and seconds with precision, reliability, and enhanced resistance, with a power reserve of approximately 55 hours. Each watch features an Oyster case made from solid blocks of 18ct gold that is waterproof to 100m and is powered by self-winding mechanical movements with power reserves ranging from 70 to 72 hours.

In summary, the 2025 Land-Dweller is a cutting-edge sports watch with a newly engineered movement, a redesigned integrated case and bracelet, and bold yet elegant styling that sets it apart from previous Rolex models while respecting the brand's heritage.

The new Rolex Land-Dweller, unveiled at Watches and Wonders 2025, extends its reach into the realm of lifestyle, offering fashion-conscious individuals a blend of sports-inspired elegance and cutting-edge technology. With its integration on social media, this groundbreaking timepiece promises to become a within the broader beauty and entertainment landscape.

The Land-Dweller's innovative movement, fashion-forward design, and subtle shifts from Rolex's traditional sport model opacity offer intriguing possibilities for style expression and conversation on social media platforms, opening up a new dimensional layer of its appeal beyond watch enthusiasts.
