New Rifle Monarch in Rossenray: The Latest Development

On a sunny Sunday, August 10, the St. Bernhardus Brotherhood in Rossenray held its annual coronation shooting, a traditional event that attracted many members and guests. The competition was fierce, with several shooters demonstrating exceptional skill.

In the end, it was Jens Seefluth who emerged victorious, bringing down the last part of the king bird to claim the title of the Shooting King of the Brotherhood. His win was a testament to his marksmanship and a significant achievement within the brotherhood, blending tradition with sporting excellence.

Heinz Hellriegel and Karlheinz Vahnenbruck also impressed with their shooting skills, claiming the 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively. Peter Helmes brought down the right stander (6th prize), while Adolf Dormann shot the left stander (5th prize). The 1st prize went to Manfred Bösl.

Notably, Jeton Maqani, a sponsor, attended the event and graciously sponsored the two king birds for the brotherhood. The event was broadcast live, allowing Master Conny Gerritz, the first chairwoman, to cheer on the shooters from afar as she could not attend in person.

Unfortunately, there were no flag twirlers present due to vacation. However, Peter Brugmann stepped up to the challenge, taking over flag twirling duties at short notice to honour the new shooting king. Among the guests was Mayor Christoph Landscheidt, who brought a donation for the association.

The second bird will be shot next Saturday, August 16, at 3 pm during the children's shooting festival. The event promises to be another exciting display of marksmanship and community spirit.
