Freshening Waves at Carlsen Verlag: Sandra Harzer-Kux Takes the Reins

New Appointment: Fresh Leadership for Carlsen-Verlag - New Release Announced: Carlsen Publishing Unveils Latest Publication

Hey there! here's a scoop on some shake-ups happening at the famous Hamburg-based publishing house, Carlsen Verlag, causing ripples in the children's and young adult book world. By October, the 52-year-old media maven, Sandra Harzer-Kux, will be calling the shots, sharing the helm with Joachim Kaufmann. This exciting announcement follows Renate Herre's 14-year stint, as she puts personal matters first.

Carlsen Verlag – a powerhouse renowned for its children's books, manga, and comics – first made its mark in the post-war era with "Pixi" books and favorite series like "Tintin." Today, you can find popular book series like "Harry Potter," "The School of Magic Animals," "Percy Jackson," "Twilight" saga, and Japanese manga albums such as "Naruto" and "One Piece" on their shelves.

German Bonnier Group, which owns the publishing giant, applauded Renate Herre's entrepreneurial spirit. Her leadership led to a doubling of Carlsen Verlag's revenue, making it the largest German trade publisher with over 110 million euros in annual revenue. Sandra Harzer-Kux aims to carry this momentum forward in her new role.

Sandra Harzer-Kux's rich media résumé includes management positions at Verlag Gruner+Jahr and comms company Territory. While details about her prior experiences aren't extensive, her recent appointment implies she's well-equipped to lead Carlsen Verlag to new heights.

In the recent past, Harzer-Kux was eyed to helm the NDR director position, but she fell short in the voting of the broadcasting council. Current director Joachim Knuth will pass the baton to Hendrik Lünenborg, the NDR manager and journalist, later on.
