Bringing in the Fresh Faces: FC Hansa's Push for the Promotion Race
Eight novices begin their training: Hansa aims to secure advancement - New recruits commence their initial sessions of training.
Got your eye on that elusive playoff spot? Hansa Rostock certainly does! In the last season, they fell just short with five points, but the new season promises a fresh start. This time around, they're aiming high: back to the 2. Bundesliga. On Monday, the team gathered for the training start of the upcoming season, sporting 27 players, including eight new additions eager to make their mark.
According to the football director, Amir Shapourzadeh, Hansa Rostock is already "significantly further" following the second division relegation compared to last year. The team is more focused, hungrier, and ready to give it their all!
Seven new faces have already proven themselves at the second or even first division level. Leading the charge is the experienced striker Andreas Voglsammer, who arrives from Hannover 96. He's joined by Paul Stock from SV Elversberg and Florian Carstens from SV Wehen Wiesbaden, who both have 2. Bundesliga experience under their belts. Joining from abroad are the Slovenian Kenan Fatkic and the Austrian Lukas Wallner, who honed their skills in Switzerland and Austria, respectively.
Unfortunately, Sigurd Haugen, the Norwegian striker who scored 10 goals in 32 games for the team last year, will not be returning. Despite the club's desire to keep him permanently, negotiations with his former club, Aarhus GF, fell short.
For the 2022 season, 1. FC Saarbrücken, 1860 Munich, and Rot-Weiss Essen are tipped as serious contenders for the top spots in the 3. Liga. To prepare for this hostile landscape, the Rostock team will face some tough competition during their preparation. In fact, they'll even go up against a team that recently competed in the Europa League! Aston Villa, an English Premier League club, will be guest stars at FC Hansa's fan and family day on July 19 at the Ostseestadion.
So buckle up! It's going to be a thrilling ride for Hansa Rostock fans as they cheer for their team on the path to promotion!
