New proprietor of Kool FM identified
In a surprising turn of events, legendary DJ and music mogul Geeneus has taken over the day-to-day running of Kool FM, one of the UK's most iconic radio stations. This move marks a significant shift for Kool FM, a station that has been a staple in the British music scene since its inception.
Geeneus, who founded Rinse FM based on his passion and love for Kool FM, expressed his gratitude to the original station and its founders, Eastman & Suzy, for trusting him with the responsibility. His journey with Kool FM began at a young age when the station became an obsession for him.
Rinse FM, which started as a pirate station in 1994 by Geeneus and Slimzee, has since evolved into a legal broadcasting powerhouse. The station, now recognised for its dedication to the underground music scene, gained a substantial following after it focused on the emerging garage scene around 1998. Today, Rinse FM boasts a diverse range of drum & bass shows, including 1985 Music, Fabio & Grooverider, Harriet Jaxxon, Critical Music, Metalheadz, Watch The Ride, and Uncle Dugs.
In 2010, Rinse was awarded a community FM broadcast licence by Ofcom, marking a milestone in the station's history. The station has since expanded, with Rinse France, a Paris-based station, launching in February 2014.
Geeneus, who is known for his tireless efforts in helping young creatives, created a platform that he hopes has helped many. His love for music and his dedication to nurturing talent is evident in his work, both at Rinse FM and now, at Kool FM.
In addition to his work in radio, Geeneus also curates the LoveThatBass drum & bass playlist on Spotify, which is updated regularly with the freshest D&B music.
