New Podcast Money Talks on the Go Breaks Down Inflation's Wild Ride

Personal finance journalist Pedro Andersson has launched a podcast called Money Talks on the Go. Each episode is recorded during his car journeys and covers economic trends, including recent shifts in inflation. The show is now available across all major podcast platforms, as well as on the websites of SIC Notícias and Expresso. The latest episode revisits a 2022 discussion on inflation, tracing its sharp rise and gradual decline. Prices surged after the COVID-19 pandemic, driven by economic reopening, supply chain issues, and soaring energy costs. By early 2022, inflation exceeded 10% as the war in Ukraine disrupted global markets. Germany and Portugal saw rates peak in October 2022, surpassing even the 2008 high of 4.4%.

The European Central Bank responded with interest rate cuts starting in June 2024, lowering the deposit rate to 2.0% by mid-2025. Inflation eased to 2.7% by December 2024 and further to 2.3% a year later. By late 2025, rates stabilised between 2% and 4%, with a 2026 forecast of 2.6%. New episodes of *Money Talks on the Go* air every Monday and Wednesday at 7 a.m., offering listeners regular updates on financial developments.

The podcast's reposted episode highlights how inflation spiked and later settled following policy changes and lower energy prices. Listeners can access the show on multiple platforms, including SIC Notícias and Expresso, for ongoing financial insights.
