Honda Motor Company has expanded its motorcycle portfolio with the introduction of two new models, the CB125 Hornet and the Shine 125 DX. These motorcycles cater to different segments of the market, offering distinct designs, features, and performance.

Design

The CB125 Hornet boasts a sportier, more aggressive design with gold-colored upside-down (USD) front forks, a digital instrument cluster, and striking body graphics in dual-tone colors. It is designed to appeal to young riders looking for a stylish, performance-oriented bike.

On the other hand, the Shine 125 DX retains the practical and commuter-friendly silhouette of the Shine range with a more refined look, including a chrome-accented headlamp, a wide sculpted fuel tank, and updated body graphics. Its long, supportive seat prioritizes rider and pillion comfort for everyday use.

Features

The CB125 Hornet offers advanced features such as a fully digital instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity, navigation, call and SMS alerts, USB charging port, music control, Honda RoadSync, weather updates for any location, average fuel economy indicator, and distance-to-empty indicator.

In contrast, the Shine 125 DX comes with a segment-first fully digital LCD cluster that displays real-time mileage, distance to empty, and service reminders. Safety is enhanced with a side-stand engine cut-off system.

Engine Performance

The CB125 Hornet is powered by a 123.94cc fuel-injected, single-cylinder 4-stroke engine producing 11.14 PS (about 11 hp) at 7,500 rpm and 11.2 Nm torque at 6,000 rpm. It uses a 5-speed gearbox and a multiplate wet clutch, designed for a balance of sporty performance and efficiency.

The Shine 125 DX has a smaller 98.98cc fuel-injected, single-cylinder 4-stroke engine generating 7.28 bhp at 7,500 rpm and 8.04 Nm torque at 5,000 rpm, paired with a 4-speed gearbox. It integrates Honda’s Enhanced Smart Power (eSP) technology for improved fuel efficiency and smooth performance, aligning with commuter usage.

Target Audience

The CB125 Hornet targets young, style-conscious riders seeking a sporty motorcycle with modern tech and performance in the 125cc segment.

The Shine 125 DX is aimed at practical commuters who prioritize reliability, fuel efficiency, comfort, and user-friendly features in a 100cc bike with a touch of modern styling.

In summary, the CB125 Hornet is a sporty, feature-rich 125cc motorcycle focusing on style and performance, while the Shine 125 DX is a refined, practical commuter bike with efficient performance and essential modern upgrades. The Shine 125 DX comes with telescopic front forks, adjustable rear shocks, drum brakes supported by Honda's Combined Braking System (CBS), and high ground clearance for varied road conditions. It produces 5.43 kW at 7500 RPM and 8.04 Nm of torque at 5000 RPM. Its long seat enhances comfort for both rider and pillion, and it is equipped with a digital LCD instrument cluster that displays real-time mileage, distance-to-empty, and service reminders.
