New Monarch Appointed for Urban Protection Force
Kamp-Lintfort just wrapped up another thrilling City Shooting Festival. With a swift 136 shots, the new Mayor was crowned: enter Christian Hanke, hailing from the Schuetzbruderschaft St. Josef. Yep, last year's Mayor, Marion Koester, handed over the shooting silver to this speedy shot. The weather was a bit dicey at times, but everyone managed to stay dry-footed in the end.

This year's march to the Prince's Place had a bit of a detour. Rather than starting at the EK3 as advertised on the posters, the parade kicked off at the Karl-Flugh-Platz in front of the Sparkasse, around 13:30. Accompanied by the federal playing group St. Viktor from Xanten, the shooters made their way to the Prince's Place, adding a musical flair to the occasion.

Tradition requires three honorary shots to be fired at the trophy. The first one belongs to the Mayor, who was this year none other than Christoph Landscheidt. The high points of Kamp-Lintfort's shooting tradition were beautifully hosted by Stefan Angenvorth, brother master of the St. Johannes Nepomuk Bruderschaft Alt-Lintfort 1753. The warm welcome was traditionally given by Willi Gelen, the long-standing chairman of the Initiative City Shooting Festival. Barbara Drese, the deputy mayor, Christoph Muellmann, the deputy mayor, and the SPD council members Birgit Ullrich, Bernhard Krebs, and Norbert Thiele were all in attendance, eager to catch the action.
Christian Hanke, who would later claim the crown, made his intentions clear from the get-go. With the 18th shot, he brought down the head of the wooden bird. Sascha Otto from the Archery Club Eintracht Altfeld-Saalhoff took care of the right wing with his 32nd shot. Tobias Müller of the Archery Club Freischütz Kamperbruch 1927 secured the left wing with his 47th shot. The tail proved to be the most stubborn, giving in only after nearly 40 attempts, claimed by Dirk Leyendecker with his 83rd bolt. The right claw was quickly secured by Jürgen Preuß of the St. Nepomuk Archery Brotherhood with the 88th shot. The left claw was secured by the then reigning city archery queen, Marion Köster of Freischütz Kamperbruch, with her 93rd bolt.
The trophy almost stayed within the club's reach as Tobias Müller dealt another heavy blow with his 135th shot, but it didn't fall. One shot later, Christian Hanke could celebrate his victory!
