Honda Introduces Two New 125cc Models: CB125 Hornet and Shine 125 DX
Honda Motor Company has expanded its 125cc commuter sport segment offerings with the launch of the CB125 Hornet and the Shine 125 DX. Each model caters to different riding preferences, with the CB125 Hornet appealing to younger buyers seeking performance and advanced features, and the Shine 125 DX focusing on practicality, fuel efficiency, and user-friendly features.
CB125 Hornet: A Sporty, Tech-Loaded 125cc Bike
The CB125 Hornet boasts a modern, aggressive street-inspired design with a muscular fuel tank, sculpted shrouds, and bold paint schemes. It comes paired with a 5-speed gearbox and features a 4.2-inch TFT display integrated with Bluetooth-enabled Honda RoadSync. The display supports navigation, call/message alerts, music control, USB Type-C charging port, digital speedometer, and ride-related indicators like average fuel economy and distance to empty.
Shine 125 DX: A Practical, Reliable Commuter
The Shine 125 DX retains the classic Shine silhouette with a more practical look. It offers a simpler LCD instrument cluster that shows real-time mileage, distance to empty, and service reminders, along with the addition of a side-stand engine cut-off for safety. The Shine 125 DX is available in four colour schemes: Pearl Igneous Black, Imperial Red Metallic, Athletic Blue Metallic, and Geny Grey Metallic.
Engine and Performance
The CB125 Hornet is powered by a 123.94cc, fuel-injected, air-cooled single-cylinder engine producing approximately 11.14 PS (or ~11 hp) at 7500 rpm and 11.2 Nm torque at 6000 rpm. It delivers 10.9 bhp at 7500 RPM and 11.2 Nm of peak torque at 6000 RPM. The Shine 125 DX, on the other hand, uses a smaller 98.98cc single-cylinder engine with carburetor producing 7.28 hp and 8.04 Nm torque.
The CB125 Hornet offers quicker acceleration with a claimed 0-60 km/h time of 5.4 seconds and a kerb weight of 124 kg, making it agile and sporty for city riding. The Shine 125 DX is focused on commuter efficiency and practicality with lower power but good real-world fuel efficiency, tailored for daily use rather than sporty performance.
Additional Features
The CB125 Hornet comes with a full LED lighting setup, including twin LED headlamps with DRLs and elevated turn indicators. It also features golden USD front forks and a 5-step adjustable mono-shock at the rear. The Shine 125 DX, meanwhile, has a restyled headlamp with chrome detailing, a redesigned fuel tank, and blacked-out components with chrome accents. It also comes with telescopic front forks, adjustable rear shocks, drum brakes supported by Honda's Combined Braking System (CBS), and high ground clearance for varied road conditions.
The Shine 125 DX will be offered in four colour schemes, while the CB125 Hornet will be available in four dual-tone colour schemes. Both models are expected to hit showrooms soon.
The CB125 Hornet, with its modern and aggressive design, is a tech-loaded 125cc bike that caters to younger buyers seeking performance-oriented features.
The Shine 125 DX, on the other hand, is a practical and reliable commuter designed for daily use, focusing on fuel efficiency and user-friendly features.
