New Leadership at Our Website's Symphony Orchestra: Alexandre Bloch as Principal Conductor and Marc Korovitch as Principal Guest Conductor

In a recent announcement, Marc Korovitch and Alexandre Bloch have been appointed to key roles within the esteemed Orchestra and Choir.

Marc Korovitch, who has been deeply involved with the ensemble for some time, expressed his deep honor in taking on a more prominent position. He praised the Orchestra and Choir for their extraordinary involvement, artistic vitality, and notable versatility.

Korovitch, a renowned conductor, has collaborated with a host of esteemed personalities such as Sir Simon Rattle, Daniel Harding, and Esa-Pekka Salonen, to name a few. He also works with various choruses worldwide, including the English Voices, the Coro de la Comunidad de Madrid, and the Eric Ericson Chamber Choir.

In addition to his role as the choir's chief conductor, Korovitch will serve as the principal guest conductor of the Orchestra, starting from the 2026-2027 concert season. He will extend his commitment as the choir's chief conductor until 2029, alongside Alexandre Bloch.

Alexandre Bloch, born in Angers, France in 1985, will be the new chief conductor of the Orchestra and Choir, starting in the 2026-2027 concert season. He is excited about working with the ensemble, praising their quality of listening, concentration, and musical proposals.

Bloch has collaborated with internationally renowned soloists and conducted various orchestras worldwide. He has maintained a close relationship with the London Symphony Orchestra and has debuted with the acclaimed Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. He has also conducted operas at prestigious venues such as the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich and the Deutsche Oper Berlin.

Thomas Dausgaard will conclude his tenure as the Orchestra's principal guest conductor in May 2026, making way for Bloch's appointment. Christoph König, the current chief conductor, will conclude his tenure in May 2026 as well, with Alexandre Bloch succeeding him.

Korovitch, who has studied choral and orchestral conducting at prestigious institutions such as the University of Sorbonne, École Normale de Musique de Paris, and Haute École de Musique de Genève, is also deeply interested in pedagogy. He has taught choral conducting in Paris and given masterclasses throughout Europe.

Both Korovitch and Bloch are regularly invited as jury members for international competitions and work for many festivals worldwide. They have performed in important concert halls such as Berwaldhallen, Elbphilharmonie, Paris Philharmonie, Lincoln Center, and Tokyo Opera City.

With their extensive experience and passion for music, Korovitch and Bloch are set to bring a new era of excellence to the Orchestra and Choir.
