Hey there! Want to know about the latest shakeup in the corporate world? Dr. Oetker, the beloved brand known for its delectable frozen pizzas, cakes, and desserts, is undergoing a leadership change!

In May, the Dr. August Oetker KG, based in Bielefeld, Germany, announced a significant move. The 42-year-old Carl Oetker, a great-grandson of the company's founder, August Oetker, will take over as the personally liable partner and head of the Oetker Group. This includes the reigns of the food division that produces everyone's favorite frozen goodies. The longstanding CEO, Albert Christmann (62), will step down and join the supervisory board, in line with his personal career plans.

It's worth noting that Christmann, despite his impressive 34-year tenure with the company and head-turning leadership, is not a member of the Oetker family. Carl's father, Richard, previously led the company until the end of 2016. Under the Oetker umbrella, the company's portfolio includes not only the food division but also the Flaschenpost delivery service, breweries, and hotels.

Carl Oetker, who's spent some time in the corporate world with stints at consulting firms and investment companies, has a solid grasp on the family business. He's had some hands-on experience, serving as Christmann's assistant from 2020 to 2022 and handling procurement at Dr. August Oetker Nahrungsmittel KG since last year.

In 2023, the food division of Dr. Oetker generated a whopping €4.17 billion in revenue with a workforce of 16,500 employees. Unfortunately, the company doesn't publicly disclose profits, but we'll be keeping a close eye on the 2024 figures as they become available. Stay tuned!
