New laugh-fest by Heinersdorff at Düsseldorf's stage theater
The Theater an der Kö is currently hosting the comedy "And that's how it should be" by René Heinersdorff, a renowned figure in the world of comedy. This play will run until June 15, offering theatre-goers a chance to enjoy a light-hearted and entertaining production.
The play stars Simone Rethel as Max's mother Gisela, Yael Hahn as Stephanie, and Carl Bruchhäuser as Bernd. Ursula Karven portrays Bernd's unconventional mother, Rotraud. The story revolves around love entanglements, with a happy ending and a special twist.
Bernd, a character in the comedy, is married but finds himself in love with a married woman named Stephanie. Prejudices against queer relationships become apparent in the play, adding depth to the narrative. Bernd's mothers, played by Rethel and Karven, suspect something is amiss, but Bernd claims he's depressed due to being prosecuted for tax evasion.
The comedy slackens a bit in favour of moral considerations after the intermission, but it picks up again with light innuendo and big laughs. The play ends with the simple wisdom: "Love always finds its way, sometimes straight, sometimes crooked."
