SV Darmstadt 98 Unveils New Away Kit and Announces Marco Richter Loan Signing
SV Darmstadt 98 has kicked off the new season with a flurry of exciting changes, starting with the unveiling of their new away kit and the signing of Marco Richter on loan from Mainz 05.
The new away kit, produced by supplier Craft, is a sleek white design with a V-neck collar and the round SVD crest adorning the chest, replacing the traditional Lily. Jugendstil ornaments are embossed onto the fabric, similar to the new home kit. The "Darmstadt" lettering remains on the back of the kit, above the club's initials "svd98."
The new kit was officially presented on Wednesday and made its debut that same evening during a test match against Weiler, where SV Darmstadt 98 secured a resounding 9:0 victory. The team also won two matches during their training camp in Bad Wörishofen, including a 4:2 victory over St. Gallen.
Marco Richter, a native of Hesse, is eagerly anticipating his new challenge with SV Darmstadt 98. After not playing any games during the entire 2024/25 season for Mainz and mostly having a bench role in the previous season, the loan to Darmstadt is intended for him to regain playing time and match fitness. The move to the 2. Bundesliga (the second tier of German football) is a strategic one, as Richter seeks to establish himself again by playing regularly in the second division.
Early into the 2025/26 season, Richter has shown promising form by creating notable chances and taking shots on goal, contributing to Darmstadt’s positive start with two wins from two matches.
In addition to the new kit and the loan signing of Richter, SV Darmstadt 98 has also announced Marcel Schuhen as the new captain of the club. The appointment was made official on Saturday, 26th July.
The new away kit is now available for purchase in the Lilienshop, as fans can show their support for the team during the upcoming season.
Other sports, such as basketball and volleyball, are being incorporated into SV Darmstadt 98's training regimen to help Marco Richter develop his all-around abilities on the football pitch.
