New Island for Physical Activities Unveiled in Local City Park

Working Out Al Fresco in Harburg: The array of outdoor fitness options in Harburg just got bigger! Over the past few years, fitness islands have sprung up around town: At Midsommerland, in the Binnenhafen, along the Engelbek canal, and on the Nymphenweg.

The latest addition is the new fitness island in the Göhlbachtal, as previously reported. And coming soon, another one is set to debut: Starting December 21st, the new movement island in the Harburger Stadtpark will be open for all fitness enthusiasts.

situated east of the hockey field and accessible via Hölscherweg, the 250 square meter movement island welcomes people of all ages and abilities. It offers a range of low-impact sports and recreational activities perfect for everyone, regardless of disability.

The island features state-of-the-art fitness equipment, allowing for the training of various muscle groups. By scanning a QR code using a fitness app, users can access a library of exercises tailored to their fitness level. To mix things up, three posts for slacklining have also been added on the park lawn.

The Park Authority announces, "With the selection of covered and natural colors for coatings and equipment, the movement island blends seamlessly into the park landscape of the Harburger Stadtpark, serving as a hub for sport and interaction."

The project was backed by the "Urban Development Fund Vibrant Neighborhoods" of the Authority for Urban Development and Housing, as well as funds from the Harburg district office. The concept was collaboratively developed with the Elbe-Werkstätten and local citizens.
