New Installment in Death Stranding Series: Crucial Information Revealed About Upcoming Game by Hideo Kojima

Death Stranding 2: The Sequel You've Been Craving

Hold onto your hats, folks, because Hideo Kojima is back with another imaginative masterpiece! That's right, the creative genius behind Death Stranding is cooking up yet another mind-bending adventure with the sequel, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.

If you loved the absurdity of the first game, Death Stranding 2 promises to deliver the same level of crazy, if not more. Prepare for a wild journey filled with giant ships, guitar-wielding cyborgs, and a ventriloquist dummy version of Fatih Akin, the Turkish director. And fear not, if you had complaints about the original's walking focus and lack of action, Death Stranding 2 seems primed to offer a much more action-packed experience!

Release Date and Price

Death Stranding 2 is expected to release on June 26, 2025, exclusively for the PlayStation 5. Players who opt for the Deluxe Edition can get their hands on the game two days earlier, on June 24, 2025. The game costs $70 / £70 on PS5, whereas the Deluxe Edition will set you back $80 / £80.

However, PC gamers are left waiting for the sequel's official release date on their platform. As of now, neither Kojima Productions nor Sony has made any announcement about a PC release. But, given the first game's trajectory, we can expect Death Stranding 2 to follow suit and arrive on PC approximately eight months after its PS5 release. This would tentatively schedule the PC release for around February 2026.

Trailer Madness

The latest sizzle reel for Death Stranding 2 premiered at SXSW earlier this year, showcasing Norman Reedus walking about, getting in scraps against breathtaking environments, and featuring a lot more dialogue senseless without context. The trailer is packed with more action than you'd typically expect from the series, and it heavily emphasizes Neil, who appears to have a slew of personal issues to deal with.

Gameplay and Features

Death Stranding 2 follows in the footsteps of the original, tasking you with trekking across a post-apocalyptic world, delivering packages, and encountering otherworldly creatures along the way. This time around, Sam Porter Bridges will be venturing to new locales such as the Australian outback and Mexico to connect them to the Chiral Network.

The walking segments may have been dubbed "walking simulators" in the past, but Death Stranding 2 is upping the ante with added traversal challenges through sandstorms and earthquakes. Combat, which took a back seat in the original game, is now given a higher priority. Hideo Kojima has described this decision as intentional, stating that the balance in the sequel between helping (delivering packages, aka "rope") and causing harm (engaging in combat, aka "stick") is more significant compared to the original.

Stealth-oriented gameplay also appears to be a larger focus in Death Stranding 2. According to Kojima, the game includes so much tactical espionage action that even his staff were worried it might become too Metal Gear-ish.

Story and Characters

Death Stranding 2 takes place 11 months after the events of the original game. Sam leads a peaceful life, but Fragile pulls him out of retirement once more for a special mission--this time to connect Mexico to the Chiral Network. Expect to encounter both familiar and new faces, including returning characters like Sam, Fragile, and Baby Lou, as well as villain Higgs in his cyborg form.

New cast members include a mysterious young woman named Tomorrow, who seems to have some connection to Higgs and the ability to control goop; Tarman, who bears the resemblance of Mad Max director George Miller and an adorable tar cat; and Dollman, a sentient ventriloquist dummy. Cyborg samurais will also be making an appearance, and one character, Neil, who showed up in recent trailers, seems to fill a role similar to Mads Mikkelsen's Cliff in the first game.

Most excitingly, Neil is modeled after the actor Luca Marinelli, who looks an uncanny amount like Solid Snake. If that doesn't set your Solid Snake fan heart racing, I don't know what will!

DLC and Beyond

Kojima Productions is offering a digital deluxe edition of Death Stranding 2, complete with new cosmetics and early-unlock items. The original game did get a Director's Cut expansion, but since there's currently no announcement of a PS6 release, it remains unclear whether Death Stranding 2 will follow suit.

As for whether Death Stranding 2 will feature any more nudity from Norman Reedus... well, let's just say it's possible! Get ready to indulge in another wild adventure courtesy of Hideo Kojima in 2025!

Winning the PS5 version of Death Stranding 2 on June 26, 2025, could be a significant milestone for players, especially if they prefer console gaming. Movie buffs and TV enthusiasts might find the game's themes, characters, and environments reminiscent of their favorite movies and TV shows, further enriching their gaming experience within the entertainment realm. If Hideo Kojima decides to release Death Stranding 2 on various platforms beyond PS5, such as PC, it could lead to a victory for gamers who enjoy cross-platform gaming.
