Max Homa, a 34-year-old golfer, has left spectators jaws-dropped at the Quail Hollow, where he's been tearing it up on the greens. After an incredible start to the second round, Homa managed a stunning five-under 137 for 36 holes.

"I've been chomping away at golf balls for the past seven months, more than I thought humanly possible," Homa admitted, addressing the swing issues he's been dealing with.

"Turns out, despite the chaos, I've got game. I'm quite decent at golf, even when I find myself in some precarious positions," he added with a chuckle.

Homa's day started on the back nine, where he scored birdies at the opening and closing holes. Sandwiched between these birdies were more at the 13th and 15th holes, while the 14th hole almost ended in an ace.

"That was a treat! It wasn't my best shot ever, but I aimed one yard inside the right bunker," Homa recounted. He continued, "I half-expected it to veer left, but it was a solid drive. The applause from the crowd as I approached the green gave me a reassuring boost, letting me know I was on target."

Homa hasn't won since a DP World Tour event in South Africa, but he's been making waves recently. After five consecutive missed cuts, Homa parted ways with caddie Joe Greiner, his childhood friend, in May. New caddie Bill Harke is now by his side.

"Bill's been a real gem," Homa praised. "Changing caddies can be tricky, you form an immediate bond, so it's not easy to replace that. Joe and I worked together for years and had a fantastic partnership. Bill and I are trying to find our rhythm, but he's been fantastic with the psychology of golf and keeping me positive."
