New Global Coalition Takes On the Crisis of Violence Against Women
Violence against women continues to be a pervasive issue across the globe. New data reveals that in the UK alone, one in eight women experienced domestic abuse, stalking, or sexual assault in 2024. Meanwhile, a global coalition called All In has now been established to combat this persistent problem and drive lasting change.
The Me Too movement was first initiated in 2006 by activist Tarana Burke to address violence against Black women and girls. Over a decade later, in 2017, the movement gained international attention following revelations about Harvey Weinstein's predatory behavior, sparking a global reckoning.
The All In coalition represents another step in the ongoing fight against gender-based violence. With advocates like Burke and Ayers at the helm, the movement aims for concrete change rather than fleeting awareness. However, the statistics—from the UK's rising abuse cases to global violence trends—underline the significant work that still lies ahead.
