Step up in the ring, meet newcomers and trainers - the New German Wave at Universum! Michael Wallisch (38) and junior world champion Leon Bauer (25) have already signed on, and others like Leon Bunn (31) and James Kraft (26) are eager to join the fray. Negotiations with another heavyweight are ongoing.
Boxing boss Marlon Esteban (31) shares, "As a German boxing stable, our goal is to present fights that resonate with the German audience."
On January 27 in Cologne, Bauer will make his debut for the traditional stable, competing in the WBC International super middleweight title fight between Luka Plantic (27/Croatia) and Ivan Zucco (28/Italy). Bauer's opponent in the same weight class (76.2 kilos) is Timo Rost (32/16 wins, 1 loss, 3 draws).
Not just boxers, the team's quality improved too. Robert Harutyunyan's (33) and Artur Grigorian's (56) coaching team has expanded twice, with the addition of fitness expert Rene Kagels (36), who's also worked with pro footballers for Champions League.
Following a few defeats abroad, Esteban explains, "Our sport's quality needed improvement."
In 2024, promoter Özen-Otto aims to refocus on boxing pros, after their successful events featuring YouTuber fighters.
