New Equipment for Volunteer Fire Department of Mechernich: Acquires 3 ELW 1 Units

On Tuesday, the Volunteer Fire Department of Mechernich was elated to receive three new command vehicles, marking the end of a long wait that began in May 2021. The delivery, which took place in Langerwehe, was overseen by Ford Reinartz, a renowned vehicle body building company.

The vehicles, all command models ELW1, were contributed to by several entities, including MAN Frechen, PTS Group GmbH Dormagen, Schäfer Metallbau Obergartzem, BNS Berners-Nutzfahrzeug-Service GmbH, Fordtechnik Glasmacher GmbH Bergheim, and, of course, Ford Reinartz. Representatives from the fire department leadership were also present for the delivery.

Jens Schreiber, the head of the Mechernich volunteer fire department, commissioned the vehicles on July 29, 2025. Eleven members from the stations Bleibuir, Kommern, and Obergartzem were present during the delivery, but it's not clear if they were present during the city area service start.

The vehicles, which were long-awaited by the department, were taken to the city area of Mechernich and put into service at local stations in Bleibuir, Kommern, and Obergartzem. Despite various reasons such as delivery delays, staff shortages, and unfortunate events, the vehicles were finally delivered, bringing much-needed reinforcements to the Volunteer Fire Department of Mechernich.

Unfortunately, no further information about the vehicles' delivery delays, staff shortages, or unfortunate events was provided. Neither was any new contact information for Alexander Kloster or new tendering process information made available. However, the delivery of these command vehicles is a significant milestone for the Mechernich Volunteer Fire Department, ensuring they are well-equipped to continue their vital work in the community.
