New England crushes FC Cincinnati 6-1 in dominant season turnaround
New England secured their first win of the season with a dominant 6-1 victory over FC Cincinnati. The match marked a strong turnaround under new coach Marko Mitrović after two opening losses on the road.
Brayan Ceballos led the charge with two first-half goals, while Matt Turner's seven saves helped seal the result.
Cincinnati started brightly, taking an early lead. But Ceballos quickly levelled the score with his first goal of the night. He struck again before half-time, putting New England ahead 3-1.
Dor Turgeman also found the net in the first half, extending the lead. After the break, Alhassan Yusuf added a fourth for New England, piling pressure on the visitors. Cincinnati's struggles worsened when Gerardo Valenzuela received a red card in the 69th minute. Down to ten men, they conceded twice more as Griffin Yow and Peyton Miller sealed the 6-1 rout. Roman Celantano made three saves but couldn't stop the heavy defeat. The result reversed last season's trend, where Cincinnati had won both meetings between the sides. For New England, it was a much-needed first win under Mitrović, following two losses to open the campaign.
New England's attack fired on all cylinders, with Ceballos and Turner standing out. The 6-1 scoreline marks their biggest win of the season so far. Cincinnati, meanwhile, will look to regroup after a difficult night on the road.
