New E-Book The Universal Within Merges Ancient Wisdom with Modern Impact
A new e-book titled The Universal Within has launched with a mission to blend ancient wisdom with modern challenges. All proceeds from its sales will fund education, health, and social projects in Vietnam through the Living Heritage Foundation. The book's release was marked by a high-profile event in Ho Chi Minh City on March 12, where leaders in business, arts, and philosophy gathered to discuss compassion as a driver of lasting success.
The event, held under the theme From Loving Therapy to Loving Kindness, featured a Longevity Workshop exploring how kindness shapes personal and professional growth. Entrepreneur and philanthropist Nguyen Phuong Lam argued that as technology accelerates, humanity's greatest strength lies in loving kindness—what she called internal capital. She stressed that true success extends beyond financial gains, with trust and compassion forming the bedrock of meaningful relationships in business and society.
Stage director Pham Hoang Nam expanded on this idea, framing compassion as a complete value system that merges intellect, knowledge, and social connections. He moved beyond viewing it as mere therapy, urging attendees to see it as a guiding principle for decision-making. Meanwhile, GG Corporation chairperson Luu Bao Huong joined a panel to examine the *heart-mind*—the inner balance she described as essential for thriving in an era dominated by artificial intelligence. The e-book itself condenses insights from eight prominent Vietnamese figures, offering readers practical ways to apply traditional wisdom to today's dilemmas. Emmy-winning director Johnny Burke complemented these discussions with his documentary *Loving Karma*, illustrating how personal transformation can ripple outward, reshaping entire communities. His visual storytelling reinforced the event's core message: inner change fuels collective progress. Writer and thinker Nam introduced a framework for *integrative thinking*, advocating for the word *and* as a tool to reconcile opposing values rather than forcing choices between them. This approach, he suggested, allows individuals to hold complexity without sacrificing depth or principle.
The gathering underscored a shared belief that cultivating compassion leads to sustainable prosperity. The Universal Within now stands as both a resource and a call to action, with its sales directly funding initiatives across Vietnam. The Living Heritage Foundation will channel the proceeds into programmes aimed at education, healthcare, and social development, turning philosophical dialogue into tangible impact.
