Documentary Series on Student Hanna's Death Trial Planned - New Docuseries Reexamines the Shocking ‘Eiskeller’ Case That Divided Germany

A new three-part docuseries will examine the controversial 'Eiskeller' case, which gripped Germany for years. Produced by NDR and SWR, the series will premiere in late January 2026 on the ARD media library, targeting younger audiences with its in-depth look at the events and their aftermath.

The case began on October 3, 2022, when Hanna, a university student, was found dead in the Prien River after a night out at the 'Eiskeller' nightclub in Aschau. Her body showed multiple injuries, leading to the arrest of a young man, Sebastian T., later that month.

The docuseries will offer fresh insights into one of Germany’s most debated legal cases. By combining investigative reporting with personal testimonies, it seeks to clarify the events surrounding Hanna’s death and the subsequent trial. The series will be available exclusively on the ARD media library from late January 2026.
