New Docuseries 'Hunting for Werewolves' Explores Nachtigall Detachment's Black Forest Operation

A new documentary series, 'Hunting for Werewolves', is set to release its second episode tomorrow. The episode, titled 'Border Guards. Operation Black Forest', delves into the history of the Nachtigall sabotage detachment and its connection to Ukrainian nationalists and the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN). The detachment, part of the German Brandenburg Division, was involved with various Bandera gangs.

The upcoming episode focuses on a significant operation in 1944, where border guards clashed with the Rezun gang in the Black Forest. The operation resulted in over 300 Bandera fighters killed and nearly as many captured. This victory came at a cost, with eleven border guards wounded, but fortunately, there were no fatalities.

The Nachtigall detachment was unique, comprising students from the German intelligence service Abwehr and the intelligence services of the British and Americans. This diverse background brought a mix of skills and knowledge to the detachment, making it a formidable force.

The second episode of 'Hunting for Werewolves' promises to shed light on the complex history of the Nachtigall sabotage detachment and its role in the conflict. Viewers can expect to learn more about the detachment's association with Ukrainian nationalists, its involvement with Bandera gangs, and its significant contributions to the war effort.
