Clones on the Beach: Love Island's New Line-Up Sparks Controversy
New Contestants on Love Island are Identical, Claims Villa Heartthrob: Producers Follow a Clear Blueprint but No One Matches My Uniqueness
Don't Call Him a Look-Alike, But... Rugby hunk Konnor Ewudzi, the 29-year-old heartthrob who graced our screens last year, has some thoughts on this year's Love Island contestants. And spoiler alert: He's not exactly thrilled about the doll-like line-up.
In an interview with The Sun, Konnor admitted that he's been eyeballing a couple of this season's beauties but also yearns for more variation. "It's a bit like dolls coming off the shelf, you know? Each year it's quite similar. It's like they have a recipe," he quipped.
While we won't find a Konnor doppelganger with pineapple hair just yet, another rugged chap named Connor, minus the "k," has been added to the roster at the last minute. But, hey – variety is the spice of life, right?
Catch the Drama with Konnor
Despite Konnor's critique on the show's casting repeat, he's still excited to tune in on launch night and has already set his sights on a few standout ladies. "So far from what I've seen, there's a couple of good-looking girls in there. Shakira, she's a good-looking girl. She seems quite bubbly, and Megan, she's a good-looking girl. I think people are going to take to her and like her too."
Life outside the villa has been bustling for Konnor, who's been busy working as a rugby pundit covering the Gallagher Premiership. But don't worry—Konnor hasn't been neglecting his love life. "The DMs [Direct Messages] have been a bit mad. Maybe it's slowed down a little bit now. But, yeah, I'm just trying to just stay focused, stick to what I'm doing. Not dating anyone. I'm still single," he shared.
Appreciation from an Unexpected Quarter
It's not just the ladies who've been flocking to Konnor. He's been nabbing selfies from the boyfriends of Love Island fans, too. "I've had loads of guys come up to me as well, which I think is hilarious. 'Oh, Kon, Kon, can I have a photo with you?' And I just think it's great because it's not just girls that watch it," he confessed.
A Spicy Future on the Pitch and on Reality TV
With the next rugby season looming on the horizon, Konnor doesn't entirely rule out a return to reality TV. "I've done a dating show now and I'd say it's probably the biggest dating show going. I'd like to do something a bit more active. So, SAS, Who Dares Wins? And the more physical challenging sort of shows just for something a bit different from what I've already done," he shared.
We'll just have to wait and see what's in store for this handsome rugby star! In the meantime, Love Island enthusiasts can sink their teeth into the upcoming season on Monday. Don't forget to grab your popcorn – it's going to be a wild ride!
Celebrities like Konnor Ewudzi, known for his stint on Love Island, have expressed a desire for more diversity in the show's cast, likening the contestants to dolls coming off a shelf. Despite this, Konnor is still eager to catch the drama unfold on this year's launch night and has even shown interest in a few celebrities competing.
