New Command Vehicle Delivered to Mechernich Fire Department
The Volunteer Fire Department of Mechernich welcomed a new addition to their fleet on July 29, 2025. The new Command Vehicle (CVO), an Audi Q5 (previous model) with 204 hp, all-wheel drive, and automatic transmission, was delivered by Brockmann Vehicle & Communication Technology GmbH.
The CVO, equipped with the latest technology, marks a significant step forward in the digitization of incident management in Mechernich. Modern incident documentation will now be carried out, and a secure Wi-Fi network will be generated in the vicinity of the CVO, ensuring data security at the incident site.
Jens Schreiber, Thomas Wolff, and Sebastian Graf, members of the Mechernich fire department leadership, were present during the delivery. Thomas Wolff expressed his satisfaction, stating that the process from the first construction meeting with the company to the day of collection went smoothly and without any problems.
The tendering process for the CVO began in June 2024 and was completed successfully after about a year. If the current model of the Audi Q5 had been chosen, a waiting time of another 1.5 years would have been added. The special equipment for the new CVO was supplied by Noll.
The delivery of the CVO was completed earlier than the originally planned delivery date in October 2025. The fire department will now also be equipped with a new incident tablet in the future. Digital incident plans will be maintained, and modern documentation methods will streamline the response to emergencies.
