New Command Vehicle Delivered to Command Service in Mechernich
The Volunteer Fire Department of Mechernich has taken a significant stride in digitalizing its deployment process, with the latest addition being a Command Vehicle for incident management. The department received the vehicle on July 30, 2025, ahead of the originally planned completion date in October.
A delegation from Mechernich traveled to Paderborn to receive the Command Vehicle from Brockmann Vehicle & Communication Technology GmbH. The delegation included Jens Schreiber, the head of the fire department, Thomas Wolff, the deputy and technical department head, and Sebastian Graf, another member of the leadership team.
The Command Vehicle is a used Audi Q5 with 204 PS, all-wheel drive, and automatic transmission, equipped with the latest technology. If a newer model of the Audi Q5 had been chosen, an additional waiting time of 1.5 years would have been required.
Thomas Wolff stated that the process from the first construction meeting to the collection of the Command Vehicle went smoothly without any problems. The tendering process for the Command Vehicle began in June 2024 and was completed successfully after about a year.
The digitalization efforts will enable the holding of digital deployment plans and creating modern deployment documentation at the Command Vehicle for Incident Operations (CVO). In the future, a secure Wi-Fi network will be generated in the vicinity of the CVO for efficient communication during incidents.
Modern deployment documentation will be created, and the deployment site will be provided with data in the future. The Volunteer Fire Department of Mechernich can be contacted for inquiries at [email protected].
The department also received three new command vehicles on July 29, 2025. However, one of the new deployment tablets is yet to be equipped in Mechernich. The specialist company that equipped the incident management vehicle for the Volunteer Fire Brigade Mechernich is not mentioned in the provided search results.
The news was transmitted via news aktuell from the Volunteer Fire Department Mechernich. The digitalization of the deployment process in Mechernich is progressing, with great strides being made, and digital deployment plans will be held in the future.
