New Categories Introduced for NEM Awards 2025
NEM Awards 2025: Embracing Creativity and Innovation in Central and Eastern Europe
The NEM Awards, a prestigious event in the television and film industry, is set to return in 2025 with an expanded focus and a new slate of categories. The revised format aims to acknowledge creativity, expand beyond conventional TV and film, bring together various sectors of the industry, highlight innovation, provide educational opportunities, and facilitate business connections.
Last year's NEM Awards, held in Zagreb, Croatia, saw Selena Stankovi? win in the Scripted Feature-Length Film category for her film, Mileva: Frau Einstein. The event gathered world-renowned decision-makers and attracted participants from traditional TV and film leaders to emerging creators, brands, platforms, broadcasters, streamers, OTT executives, producers, showrunners, studio heads, content buyers, technology companies, telecom operators, social media platforms, video creators, short-form content developers, agencies, and marketing professionals.
This year, the NEM Awards 2025 will take place on December 8 and 9, 2025, at the Esplanade Zagreb Hotel. The event will feature three categories: Best Finished TV Series in CEE, Best Pre-Development TV Series in Europe, and Best AI for Video Industry. Submissions for the NEM Awards will be accepted until 4 November 2025.
The Best Finished TV Series in CEE category recognizes TV series produced in Central and Eastern Europe that aired or were streamed between 15 September 2024 and 15 October 2025. Last year's winner was Timea. The Best Pre-Development TV Series in Europe category highlights prospective projects still in pre-development, providing opportunities for screenwriters and creators to engage with producers and increase visibility. In the Best Pre-development Project Award of NEM Awards 2024, the award went to Scripted Series: Teodora Markova and Sta?islavs Tokalovs, The Last Divorce of Communism.
A new addition to the NEM Awards is the Best AI for Video Industry category, which acknowledges notable uses of artificial intelligence within the video sector, including content creation, editing, personalization, and audience engagement.
The NEM Awards 2025 promises to be an inspiring event for video creators in Central and Eastern Europe, with the slogan "Inspiring Video Creators in CEE." The event is part of the annual NEM Zagreb, which originates from NEM Dubrovnik, a TV market that has been held for more than 10 years. NEM Dubrovnik is scheduled for June 8 to June 11, 2025, at the Dubrovnik Palace Hotel.
The NEM Awards 2024 winners were announced on Wednesday, but the organizer of the NEM Awards 2025 in Zagreb is yet to be disclosed in the search results. Regardless, the anticipation for this year's event is building, as participants look forward to networking, learning, and celebrating the best in television and film from Central and Eastern Europe.
