New Avatar's first official trailer surfaces online
Disney Studios has unveiled the debut trailer for the much-anticipated sequel to James Cameron's groundbreaking film, "Avatar: The Way of Water". The film, set to be released worldwide on December 19, 2025, introduces audiences to two new Na'vi clans: the freedom-loving Tlaali (Wind Traders) and the warlike Mangkwan (Ash People).
The Mangkwan Clan, also known as the Ash People, are characterized by their ashen-grayish blue skin, red warpaint, and a more hostile, survivalist culture. Their home was destroyed by a volcanic eruption, leading them to turn away from Eywa, the Na'vi deity, and possibly start worshipping fire itself. Their leader, Varang, a strong and fierce female figure, is set up as an antagonist and complex villain in the series.
On the other hand, the Tlaali, or Wind Traders, are known for their nomadic lifestyle aboard flying ships pulled by giant jellyfish-like creatures. They are an outcast clan with unique cultural traits such as ceremonial bags worn over their heads, emphasizing their difference from other clans and their estrangement from Eywa's light.
These new clans expand the world of Pandora by introducing more complex social and cultural dynamics. The Ash People play the role of a violent and bitter adversarial force, while the Wind Traders represent a distinct, nomadic group.
Returning to their roles are actors Sam Worthington, Kate Winslet, Zoe Saldana, and Sigourney Weaver. Actor Stephen Lang, who plays Colonel Miles Quaritch, will appear on screen, with his character painted in red and black hues. Actress Una Chaplin from the TV series "Game of Thrones" will join the cast, playing the role of Varang.
The film is a continuation of James Cameron's franchise about humanoid inhabitants of other planets. The second main character and members of the Omatikaya clan will engage in fierce battles with the Tlaali and Mangkwan clans.
Interestingly, the second part of the franchise, "Avatar: The Way of Water", earned $2.3 billion worldwide, making it one of the highest-grossing films of all time. The first "Avatar" was the highest-grossing film of all time, earning $2.9 billion worldwide.
James Cameron has revealed that the film will be "a bit longer" than the second part, which has a runtime of 3 hours 12 minutes. However, the exact runtime of the film is still unknown.
In the third installment of the Avatar series, the antagonists will be the evil Na'vi tribe. Whether the film will be shown in Russia is unknown at this time.
