New arrival at Real Betis: Deossa secures transfer deal

Real Betis Secures Colombian Midfielder Nelson Deossa in €13 Million Deal

Real Betis has bolstered its midfield with the signing of Nelson Deossa from Mexican club Rayados de Monterrey. The 30-year-old Colombian midfielder, known for his long-range shooting and left-footed play, joined Betis on a contract running until 2030.

The transfer fee is approximately €11.5 million plus up to €2 million in add-ons, totalling around €13 million (about $15 million USD). Rayados de Monterrey, however, retains 15% of a possible future transfer fee for Deossa.

Deossa's signing comes after a strong performance at the recent FIFA Club World Cup and aims to fill the midfield gap left by Johnny Cardoso, who moved to Atlético Madrid. Although Deossa offers a different style, he brings a wealth of experience, having played for Atlético Huila, Estudiantes de La Plata, Atlético Nacional, and Júnior de Barranquilla before joining Monterrey.

Betis sporting director Manu Fajardo and CEO Ramón Alarcón travelled to Monterrey for direct negotiations, and Deossa underwent medicals before finalising the deal. He arrived in Seville for preseason preparations under coach Manuel Pellegrini, aiming to establish himself as a key midfielder for the upcoming La Liga season.

Deossa missed the last games due to discomfort related to his transfer negotiation but passed medical tests and is in good physical condition. He was received at the airport by Manu Fajardo and passed through immigration without incident.

The signing of Deossa marks Betis' eighth official signing of the season, joining Natan, Álvaro Valles, Pau López, Junior, Valentín Gómez, Riquelme, Gonzalo Petit, and others. The club announced the signing through a video that recalls the kiss cam incident at a Coldplay concert, with several Betis players appearing in the official announcement video, with Deossa being the last one to appear.

Nelson Deossa stands at 1.85 meters tall and can play in many positions in the center of the field as he works from box to box. He covers a lot of ground and has a powerful shot from long and medium distances. Deossa's arrival is expected to bring a new dynamic to Betis' midfield and excite fans as the La Liga season approaches.

Nelson Deossa's arrival at Real Betis, following his €13 million deal from Rayados de Monterrey, might bring a fresh dynamic to the club's midfield, particularly in light of European leagues like Laliga, where his artful play and powerful shots could make a significant impact, especially considering his experience playing for various South American clubs.

Although Deossa plays a different style compared to the team's previous midfielders, it's worth noting that he can adjust to multiple positions in the center of the field, which could be beneficial for sports strategies in the upcoming La Liga season.
