New Appointment: T Dog, Famed Hacker, Assumes Role on Blue Peter Team

The much-loved puppet character, Hacker T Dog, is set to become a regular presenter on the iconic British children's television programme, Blue Peter, from September 2021. This marks Hacker T Dog's official induction into the Blue Peter team, following his previous appearances as a guest presenter.

Hacker T Dog, a Border Terrier puppet character, is a well-known figure on the CBBC channel. With over 16 years of charm and charisma, he is now set to bring his unique style to the long-running children's show.

Sarah Muller, the BBC's senior head of children's commissioning for seven plus, announced Hacker T Dog's joining of the Blue Peter team. The news comes as Blue Peter undergoes a fresh new look, shifting to Campfield Facilities at Versa Studios in Manchester.

Although the exact location of the Blue Peter studio is not specified, the show will no longer be based at BBC Elstree. The Blue Peter Garden in Media City, and the garden at RHS Bridgewater, will continue to be used for filming and remain part of the Blue Peter output.

Blue Peter's new format will also see the discontinuation of live episodes. However, details about any other changes to the show's format are not yet available.

Hacker T Dog's debut on Blue Peter will feature a special tour of his hometown, Wigan. He expressed his excitement about joining the show, considering it a privilege to be involved in such an iconic programme.

Over its more than 60-year history, Blue Peter has presented Blue Peter Badges to the King and Queen, the Prince and Princess of Wales, as well as actors Olivia Colman and David Tennant. The show is known for its intrepid presenters and characterful pets.

With Hacker T Dog joining the team, he will be joining Shini Muthukrishnan, Joel Mawhinney, Abby Cook, and Henry the dog. The puppet character will be controlled by puppeteer Phil Fletcher.

Blue Peter airs on CBBC, BBC Two, Sign Zone, and BBC iPlayer. The show continues to be a beloved part of many children's lives, offering a mix of entertainment, education, and activities. With the addition of Hacker T Dog, fans can expect even more fun and excitement from the iconic show.
