New appointment for national football coach in Poland

In a bid to bolster the Polish national football team ahead of crucial World Cup qualifiers and tournaments, the team's new coach, Jan Urban, is actively seeking the return of star striker Robert Lewandowski.

Lewandowski, a 36-year-old striker for FC Barcelona, announced his retirement from the national team following a dispute with the previous coach, Michal Probierz, over the captain's armband. However, recent reports suggest that Lewandowski may reconsider his decision and return to the squad under Urban's guidance.

Urban, a 63-year-old coach who has worked with German ex-world champion Lukas Podolski, has publicly committed to doing everything possible to bring Lewandowski back. He emphasised the critical role Lewandowski plays in the team, stating that Poland cannot afford to be without him given his proven contributions, which include helping Poland qualify for many major tournaments.

Urban intends to meet Lewandowski personally to discuss and persuade him to return. He noted that he won't judge the situation from afar but will seek direct dialogue. The coach expressed optimism about the team's future in a video by the PZPN association.

Lewandowski currently holds the title of Poland's all-time top scorer with 85 goals in 158 appearances. His return would be a significant boost for the team, as it currently finds itself without its star striker following a World Cup qualifying match against Finland that ended in a 1:2 defeat.

Despite the optimism, there is no confirmation from Lewandowski about his return to the national team. Jan Urban plans to present his plans for the team on Thursday in Warsaw. The news portal "Onet.pl" reported that Lewandowski might return with Urban as coach.

It is worth noting that Urban previously coached the club Gornik Zabrze, but this information is not directly related to the current situation of the Polish national football team. The team's new coach took over after Probierz's resignation, which was due to a dispute with Lewandowski.

The Polish national football team will be eagerly awaiting Lewandowski's decision, as his return could significantly improve their chances in upcoming competitions.

Jan Urban, in his efforts to strengthen the Polish national football team, has expressed his hopes for star striker Robert Lewandowski's return, acknowledging his vital contributions to the team's success in major tournaments. With Lewandowski's potential return to the squad, the team could regain its star striker and significantly boost its chances in upcoming World Cup qualifiers and tournaments.
