New Age Practitioners Greet Fresh Faces: Alysha Clark and Jacy Sheldon Join the Local Community in the District
The Washington Mystics have made a splash in the WNBA with their mid-season trades, acquiring veteran Alysha Clark and young guard Jacy Sheldon to bolster their roster and support their rebuilding phase and playoff push in 2025.
Alysha Clark Joins the Mystics
Alysha Clark, a 13-year WNBA veteran with three championships, was acquired from the Seattle Storm in early August 2025. Clark, who previously played for the Mystics, expressed her happiness at returning to Washington, appreciating the environment and the team’s young, carefree but competitive spirit. Her veteran savvy is valued for the high-pressure playoff atmosphere, helping balance the team’s youth and skill development.
Jacy Sheldon Adds Energy and Shooting
Guard Jacy Sheldon, who was drafted by the Dallas Wings in 2024, was acquired from the Connecticut Sun. Sheldon, known for her energy, competitiveness, and three-point shooting, fits a critical need for the Mystics, who had struggled with three-point attempts. Her ability to space the floor and contribute defensively complements the Mystics’ younger core.
Together, Clark and Sheldon enhance the Mystics by blending experience and youthful skill. Clark anchors the team’s leadership and playoff poise, while Sheldon adds shooting and energy to balance the roster’s composition.
With 13 games left in the 2025 season, the Mystics will look to these new additions to help them stay competitive and make a strong push for the playoffs. The team will take on the Golden State Valkyries on Wednesday evening at CareFirst Arena.
