New addition to the 'Narnia' cast: Greta Gerwig secures a role in the upcoming production.
In a significant development for the upcoming film adaptation of "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Magician's Nephew," actress Carey Mulligan is in talks to join the cast. The Oscar-winning actor would play Mabel Kirke, the ailing mother of the character Digory, one of the two children embarking on an adventure in the fantasy-fictional movie.
Directed by Greta Gerwig, the prequel to the beloved book series, "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe," is in active stages of casting. Apart from Mulligan, daniel Craig, Emma Mackey, and Meryl Streep have already been roped in. Craig will portray Uncle Andrew, Mackey will essay a younger version of the White Witch, while Streep will voice Aslan, the legendary talking lion.
The film narrative revolves around the accidental release of the evil White Witch in 1990s London, instigated by the children's interaction with their uncle's magic. The roles of Digory Kirke and Polly Plummer, the other child protagonist, have yet to be finalized. Meanwhile, the production is monitoring casting for these positions.
