Sebastian Stan is set to star in Radu Jude's upcoming adaptation of Frankenstein, while Jordan Peele's "Him" is poised to push horror into the gritty, bloody realities of competitive sports culture.

In "Him", Stan plays a rising star quarterback named Cameron Cade who trains with his idol, an eight-time championship quarterback named Isaiah White, at a secluded, remote compound. What begins as mentorship morphs into a sinister, unsettling descent, suggesting psychological horror mixed with brutal physical violence that tests the protagonist’s sanity and body.

The film’s trailer and synopsis hint at "something darker" lurking beneath the surface of mentorship, sending the young quarterback down a disorienting rabbit hole that could cost him dearly physically and mentally. The violence is depicted as intense and gory, with bloody football training montages visually emphasizing this brutal journey.

"Him" is willing to venture into ambiguous, mind-bending horror spaces beyond straightforward violent thriller elements. Key terrifying places the film is willing to go include the physical and psychological toll of obsession and ambition in sports, intensified to horrifying levels. The film also explores a remote, isolated estate—a classic horror setting—where dark secrets and power dynamics unfold.

The film also delves into visceral, ultraviolent scenes depicting the gruesome risks and sacrifices of professional football. There's also a collapse of reality or mental state for the protagonist, hinting at hallucinations or information blurring between what’s real and imagined.

"Him" seems poised to explore profound psychological terror and possible supernatural ambiguity, fitting Jordan Peele's style of layering social commentary with visceral horror. The film releases on September 19, 2025.

Meanwhile, Sebastian Stan is also set to star in Radu Jude's Frankenstein adaptation, which is currently in the script-writing stage and is said to be set on CIA black sites on Romanian soil.
