Neuwied City Awards Kai Kazmirek for Remarkable Achievements in His Professional Life
In the heart of Neuwied, a grand celebration brought together friends, fellow athletes, and city officials to honor Kai Kazmirek, the town's esteemed decathlete. As the town hall echoed with applause, Mayor Jan Einig bid farewell to this international sports icon.
"Kai, you've been more than just a stellar athlete for us," Einig declared. "You've represented Germany, Rhineland-Palatinate, and Neuwied with an unrivaled panache." Accompanied by his athletic brethren from LG Rhein-Wied, Kazmirek stepped into the city book— a testament to his extraordinary achievements.
Einig maintained that Kazmirek was a standout athlete and an ambassador par excellence. "You've participated in the Olympics twice, clinching bronze at the 2017 World Championships, and racking up numerous national victories. But for us, you were more than an elite competitor—you were a beacon for our community," he stated.
The mayor continued to acknowledge Kazmirek's impact off the field. "You made the dream of constructing the athletics hall at the Rhein-Wied stadium a reality through your relentless drive," he stressed. "You demonstrated that world-class athletes can excel right here at home."
Kazmirek, humbled by the gesture, expressed his gratitude towards the city and his loyal sponsors— Stadtwerke Neuwied (SWN) and Sparkasse Neuwied—as well as his sports physician, Prof. Dr. Peter Billigmann.
Just days prior to the celebration, Kazmirek found himself embarking on a new chapter—fatherhood. Despite hanging up his athletic gear, his spirit remains steadfast in sports. As a trainer, mentor, and inspiration, he assures that a fresh batch of talent awaits him at LG Rhein-Wied.
In his farewell speech, Mayor Einig hailed Kazmirek's story, saying, "It's not a classic hero's tale. It's better: it's real."
