In the world of cinema, there's always something new and exciting on the horizon. Here's a look at some of the upcoming releases that are sure to captivate audiences.

Firstly, the biographical film "The Wind's Wife" is set to hit screens soon. Directed by Thorsten Klein, this adaptation of Elena Poniatowska's novel tells the life story of artist Leonora Carrington, portrayed by Olivia Vinall, and her intense relationship with Max Ernst, played by Alexander Scheer. The film takes viewers through Leonora's journey in the surrealist movement in Paris, her escape to Mexico during World War II, and her vibrant life post-war.

For fans of animation, "The Smurfs: The Big Movie" is an eagerly anticipated release. While the exact release date is yet to be announced, this CGI musical, directed by Pam Brady, promises a strong soundtrack and follows the Smurfs as they leave their magical world for reality, with Gargamel and Razamel kidnapping Papa Smurf, Smurfette, and other Smurfs.

Music lovers will be thrilled by the documentary "One to One: John & Yoko", which looks back 50 years to accompany John Lennon and Yoko Ono in 1972, shortly after their move to New York. The documentary features unreleased footage and the energetic performance of the couple at the "One To One" concert on August 30, 1972.

If you're in the mood for a comedy, Christian Lerch's "Karli & Marie" might be just what you need. This film follows the chaotic journey of two characters, Marie (played by Sigi Zimmerschied) and Karli (played by Luise Kinseher), towards Tyrol after an accident.

For those who appreciate a good spy thriller, Wes Anderson's "The Phoenix Masterstroke" (originally known as *The Phoenician Scheme*) is a must-watch. This tragicomedy-spy thriller, released in May 2025, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and features a star-studded cast including Benicio del Toro, Mia Threapleton, Michael Cera, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hanks, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Rupert Friend. The plot revolves around a family, a family business, and a tense father-daughter relationship intertwined with espionage.

In the realm of documentaries, "A Day Without Women" tells the true story of the historic women's strike in Iceland in 1975, making the country a pioneer in gender equality. This film looks back at a turning point and at a country with clear goals for the future.

Lastly, "The Salt Path" is a film adaptation of the 2012 travelogue of the same name. It tells the story of Moth and Raynor Winn, who lose their home and everything they own, and set off on foot along the 1,000-kilometer-long coast of Devon, Cornwall, and Dorset after Moth's severe Parkinson's diagnosis.

As for the animated world, Rihanna lends her voice to Smurfette in the original version of the movie, "The Smurfs: The Big Movie". The film is described as having a mix of absurd satire and dry wit.

In addition, Neustadt-Geflüster is giving away two free tickets each for Thalia and Schauburg for the current week, until Wednesday. The draw will take place over the weekend.

Lastly, Oliver Rish's new summer comedy, titled "Black Sheep", features chaos among Berlin's urban figures due to heat stress.
