Audiences were treated to a first glimpse of Guillermo del Toro's much-anticipated Frankenstein remake during the Netflix Tudum 2025 function over the weekend.

Netflix's upcoming Frankenstein venture by Guillermo del Toro had left me skeptical, but the recently revealed Tudum trailer quelled my doubts.

Dive into the Gothic World of Guillermo del Toro's 'Frankenstein'

Toss aside any doubts, folks, 'cause Guillermo del Toro, the visionary director behind masterpieces like Pan's Labyrinth, The Shape of Water, and Nightmare Alley, ain't no stranger to crafting breathtaking horror flicks. Yet, when I heard he was taking on Mary Shelley's classic novel Frankenstein, I couldn't help but feel a bit uneasy. After all, Frankenstein's monster has starred in around 190 films, making it a crowded genre.

But those jitters vanished when I laid my eyes on the new Frankenstein trailer during the Netflix Tudum 2025 event. Del Toro was up on stage, accompanied by Oscar Isaac, portraying the legendary scientist Dr. Victor Frankenstein, and Mia Goth, playing Victor's wife Elizabeth. The teaser promised a heapin' helping of gloom and gothic goodness, and it sure did deliver.

Why, you ask? Well, Del Toro's confessed he's been daydreaming about Shelley's monster since he was a nipper, and it's more than three decades in the making. And trust me, that passion shines through in the two-minute teaser, which showcases Isaac's torment as Victor grapples with the highs and lows of his grotesque experiment.

Now, 'bout that monster, played by the six-foot-five hunk himself, Jacob Elordi. Yeah, Jacob's a familiar face from Euphoria, but in Frankenstein, he transforms into a terrifying and tragic character, thanks to his menacing growl and the makeup chair marathons he endured day after day. Isaac himself dubbed it a "graceful, beautiful, sad and rageful portrait" of the creature.

The cast also includes characters portrayed by Charles Dance, Felix Kammerer, Lars Mikkelsen, David Bradley, Christian Convery, and Academy Award-winner Christoph Waltz.

Del Toro faithfuls, mark your calendars, 'cause you won't wanna miss this gory spectacle when it graces your screens this November on Netflix.
