In the world of animation, Sony Pictures Animation's latest offering, KPop Demon Hunters, continues to make waves, captivating audiences and breaking records. The film, which pits a girlband against a demon-created boyband, has become the most popular animated movie on Netflix, ever, with over 159 million viewers.

KPop Demon Hunters has not only dominated the streaming platform but also shows no signs of slowing down, suggesting it may surpass some standing records. The movie, released on June 20, 2025, has already amassed over 210.5 million views and 454.2 million hours watched in just about two months, making it Netflix's second most-viewed movie ever. It is on track to surpass Red Notice as Netflix’s most-watched original film.

Tickets for the theatrical sing-along event sold out rapidly, with 1,000 showtimes sold out across over 1,700 theaters in the U.S. and Canada, demonstrating strong fan demand beyond streaming.

The success of KPop Demon Hunters extends beyond the screen, with its soundtrack achieving significant milestones. The soundtrack has produced three simultaneous top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, joining a historic list alongside Saturday Night Fever and Waiting to Exhale as only the third soundtrack ever to achieve this.

The song "Golden" by the fictional band HUNTR/X hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the first leading single from an all-female K-pop group to do so in the chart’s over 60-year history. "Golden" also topped the Billboard Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts for four weeks, with over 118 million streams during one week in early August 2025.

Other songs like "Your Idol" (No. 4) and "Soda Pop" (No. 10) also contributed to the soundtrack’s massive chart success.

KPop Demon Hunters is not just a hit on Netflix; it has also topped the charts in the UK, holding the number one spot for weeks. HUNTR/X, the girlband from KPop Demon Hunters, reached no.1 on the UK's Official Singles Chart and US Billboard Hot 100 with their track Golden.
