Netflix's JoJo's Bizarre Adventure debut stuns fans—then frustrates them

Netflix has launched JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run, the long-awaited adaptation of Hirohiko Araki's manga. The first episode premiered on March 19, 2023, drawing massive praise and over 4.7 million views. However, the streaming giant's unclear release plan for future episodes has left fans frustrated and concerned about the series' momentum. The anime introduces Johnny Joestar, a former rider paralysed after an accident, as he enters a gruelling cross-country horse race. The debut episode earned a near-perfect 9.7 rating on IMDb from more than 21,700 users, cementing its popularity. Yet, excitement quickly turned to backlash when Netflix revealed no clear timeline for subsequent episodes.

A teaser released on March 28 confirmed that the next instalment, referred to as the 'second stage,' would arrive *sometime in 2026*—without a specific date. Fans had expected a weekly or batch release, similar to previous *JoJo* adaptations, but the three-year gap has sparked outrage. Many took to Netflix's TikTok and Instagram, flooding comment sections with complaints and *JoJo*-themed memes. The delay risks undermining the series' hype, as viewers may lose interest before the next episode arrives. While the first instalment topped Netflix rankings, the extended wait could cause the show to fade from public attention.

The premiere of Steel Ball Run has proven a hit, but Netflix's release strategy threatens its long-term success. With no episodes until 2026, fans face an unusually long wait. The series' future now depends on whether the streaming platform adjusts its approach or risks losing its audience.
